MasterWeld MW-CuSn8 Cooper Alloy MIG Welding wire is a Phosphor Bronze C MIG Wire filler metal that is used quite extensively for surfacing applications. The higher tin content, at 7.0-9.0%, gives MW-CuSn8 weld deposits greater hardness and higher tensile/yield strength than MW-CuSn6. When gas tungsten arc welding with MW-CuSn8 Phosphor Bronze C, preheating is recommended.
Applications
MW-CuSn8 can be used for joining brass and bronze alloys and joining cast iron to carbon steel, it is also suitable for welding a wide range of copper
alloys ranging from phosphor bronze, brass, manganese bronze and gunmetal. Also used quite extensively for surfacing applications.
MW-CuSn8 wire provides a good colour match for many different types of brass.
Base materials that call be welded
Used for welding tin bronze (phosphor bronze) alloys, eg: C51000, C511000, C51900, CuSn4, CuSn5, CuSn6. Gunmetal, eg: C83600, C92200 (5% Pb alloys can cause problems). Brasses, eg: C27400, CuZn37.
Please Note
Copper and its alloys require a relatively high heat input with shortened welding time. Higher preheat temperatures and faster welding rates than for steel are necessary.
