Our qualified Local Exhaust Ventilation (LEV) professionals provide LEV testing for businesses requiring inspection. Please get in touch for a quote.
LEV testing is required on all fume extraction systems including wall mounted, benches, portable and mobile units.
LEV testing should be officially carried out by a qualified professional at least every 12 months (unless otherwise stated).
By law, employers must maintain working order of all local exhaust ventilation.
The HSE issue enforcement notices to those failing to complete thorough examinations and tests on LEV equipment at least every 14 months.
Employers must evaluate employee exposure to fume and dust, construct control methods if necessary and maintain extraction equipment (clean of debris, obstruction and fully functioning).
LEV should be checked every time it’s used and there should also be a display or indicator to show its working properly.
LEV equipment must be used how instructed in manufacturer instruction manuals to ensure full effectiveness.
Employers must provide qualified LEV professional all co-operation needed for testing to be carried out successfully.
Any defects should be put right as soon as possible or within a time laid down by the person who carries out the examination.
Any failures found should be fixed as soon as possible or when instructed by the qualified LEV professional that tested the equipment.
The qualified LEV professional will provide a record of all tests which must be securely stored by the employer for at least five years.
