MasterWeld 5183 Aluminium Welding Wire has improved tensile strength compared to 5356 and is often used when welding alloy 5083 to meet these higher as welded tensile strength requirements. MasterWeld 5183 also offers high fracture toughness for impact resistance.
It also has excellent resistance to seawater is commonly used on marine components, also on drilling rigs, cryogenics, railroad cars, storage tanks etc.
This aluminium alloy is not recommended for elevated temperature applications due to its susceptibility to stress corrosion cracking.
